Durante vários meses, optámos por viver esta batalha em silêncio. Não foi uma decisão fácil. Além de ser uma situação profundamente dolorosa e muito sensível para a nossa família…. continua 🙏

Hoje escrevo-vos não apenas como autora deste blogue, mas como esposa.
Durante vários meses, optámos por viver esta batalha em silêncio. Não foi uma decisão fácil. Além de ser uma situação profundamente dolorosa e muito sensível para a nossa família, existem familiares em Portugal que, por razões muito pessoais, ainda não podem ter conhecimento desta realidade.
Mas chegou o momento em que o silêncio deixou de ser uma opção.
Em fevereiro deste ano, o meu marido foi diagnosticado com Leucemia Mieloide Aguda (LMA). Desde então, a nossa vida transformou-se por completo. Temos enfrentado esta luta com coragem, esperança e uma enorme vontade de acreditar que o amanhã pode ser melhor.
Infelizmente, os nossos filhos e o irmão dele já realizaram os testes de compatibilidade e nenhum deles é compatível para a doação de medula óssea. Neste momento, a esperança da nossa família depende da existência de um dador compatível, algures no mundo.
É por isso que hoje vos peço ajuda.
O meu blogue tem leitores em vários países e acredito na força desta comunidade. Peço-vos, do fundo do coração, que partilhem e republicuem esta mensagem. Cada partilha pode chegar à pessoa certa. Cada partilha pode representar uma oportunidade de vida.
Encontrar um dador de medula óssea compatível poderá permitir ao meu marido realizar o transplante que tanto necessita, aumentando significativamente as probabilidades de uma cura duradoura e reduzindo o risco de a doença voltar no futuro.
Mesmo que não possam ser dadores, podem fazer algo igualmente importante: ajudar esta mensagem a chegar o mais longe possível. Nunca sabemos onde poderá estar a pessoa compatível que procuramos.
Hoje deixamos de guardar esta luta apenas para nós, porque acreditamos que a esperança cresce quando é partilhada.
Peço-vos, por favor, que façam chegar este apelo o mais longe possível. Algures no mundo pode estar a pessoa que dará ao meu marido a oportunidade de continuar a viver, de ver os nossos filhos e neta crescer e de continuarmos a escrever a nossa história.
Obrigada, do fundo do coração, por cada partilha, por cada palavra de apoio e por cada gesto de solidariedade. ❤️

    1. Thank you, my dear friend Phil… at this moment, I feel exhausted because, as you know, I also have lymphoma. I had to put my own treatment on hold for now, as it is impossible for any human being to face two major battles at once, and at the end of the day, I am only human too… João is undergoing chemotherapy treatments where he has to be hospitalized, and when the medical team allows it, he comes home… you know, this is a test of endurance right now for any of us. The kids are also suffering but they don’t show it… anyway… I keep, or try to keep, a positive mindset to maintain some mental sanity… thank you for sharing, and with love, if I need to talk, I know I can count on you! Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️🍀❣️🙏

My heart is with you my friend — I am so happy that your husband has an incredible wife like you who will clearly stop at nothing to be the source of strength and upliftment that he needs at this time of hardship and uncertainty. The fact that you have your own battles with a condition that is also challenging but still advocate tirelessly for your spouse, just exemplifies a selfless sacrifice, love and devotion that words cannot really convey but is utterly admirable ✊💘💘

    I truly hope that your husband gets the bone and marrow treatment that he needs to elevate him out of this dire condition, and also safeguard him from any return of this cancer in the future 🕊️🤞😇✝️

      I don’t even know how to thank you for your gesture, your kindness, and above all, for sharing this, which could be the key to finding a compatible donor for João 🙏. I thank you on his behalf, and on my own, because I am truly deeply moved and at a loss for words…

      I believe that facing a situation like the one João is going through, I am not doing anything that any other woman by his side wouldn’t do as well… I am immensely grateful for your compliments and for your opinion of me, and I truly hope from the bottom of my heart that I can repay you one day. In my opinion, it is during these times of distress that we see clearly who truly helps and who just stands in the way.

You are so right Carla 🫶🫂😇❣️, it’s definitely important that your partner finds a compatible donor and I like your initiative to spread awareness of the issue over the blogs and various social avenues at your reach, because these communities are vast and you never know who is able to help with specific things that are relevant to you, or who out there has been in these situations and can give you much need advice, not to mention the fact that just the support and knowing people care, is truly a blessing 🙏🙏😇🤗

        Knowing how much this means to you and the way it makes you feel, is all I need to know my dear friend because I cannot imagine what you are facing and know that every little things that people do must mean everything to you considering how serious the matter is 💌💔✊, so I can feel by your thoughts and just the sheer gratitude that sincerely comes out of your soul, that you definitely aren’t taking anything for granted 🍀🥰🙌.
