At that exact moment, Alberto’s voice rang out:
“WE HAVE TO WAKE HIM UP!”
Consuela closed her eyes.
“I asked for silence, not a condo association meeting with the Great Beyond!”
“Alberto, who do we have to wake up?” I asked.

— perguntei.
— Não me lembro!
A Consuela pousou a chávena.
O Fenando ergueu a cabeça, ofendido.
— Duas e cinquenta e nove.
Ficámos todos imóveis.
O relógio tocou.
Uma vez.
Duas vezes.
À terceira, ouviu-se uma pancada na porta.
O Jacks escondeu-se atrás de mim. O Fenando fingiu estar a estudar o rodapé.
E a maçaneta começou lentamente a rodar…

The Chronicles of a Cool Girl 🥰❤️— Chapter 159
👻 Who is it that we have to wake up?!

That morning, I woke up with one certainty: I needed a vacation, some silence, and, if possible, a new family. This one came with far too many manufacturing defects! 🤣
Consuela appeared in the kitchen with a cup of coffee, looking as if she’d aged ten years overnight.
“Today, no one talks about ghosts, mysterious doors, or unknown men!”
“I don’t remember!”
Consuela set down her cup.
“Fantastic! We’ve got a ghost with amnesia. All we’re missing now is a detective with a mustache and a dog who thinks he’s a private security guard!”
Fenando lifted his head, looking offended. Jacks, eager to prove his competence, barked at the toaster.
“We’re in great hands,” I muttered. “I suppose the toaster is the next suspect.”
Suddenly, my phone vibrated. Another message from an unknown number:
“When the clock strikes three times, don’t let Francisca in.”
I glanced at the wall clock.
“Consuela, what time is it?”
“Two fifty-nine.”
We all froze.
The clock struck.
Once.
Twice.
On the third strike, there was a knock at the door.
Jacks hid behind me. Fenando pretended to be deeply interested in the baseboard. Consuela clutched the dust cloth as if it were a combat weapon.
And I—a truly courageous woman—hid behind Consuela.
“If it’s Francisca, tell her we’re all dead!”
From the other side of the door, a man’s voice murmured:
“Carla… I’ve returned.”
There was a loud crash, followed by Alberto’s distressed voice:
“IT’S HIM!”
Consuela looked at me, looking utterly desperate.
“My dear, I’m going to need a higher dose of patience. Because, clearly, the pills just aren’t cutting it anymore!”
And the doorknob began to turn, ever so slowly…

📢Consuela’s Report 📝
Alberto: still shouting instead of explaining.
Fernando: an expert at pretending he isn’t afraid.
Jacks: a private security guard on the run.
Pretty Girl: hiding behind me. Such great courage!
Consuela: officially unavailable for any more nonsense.
Conclusion: if that man comes in, someone needs to ask him to take off his shoes. The least he could do is not dirty my floor with his mystery! 🤣

  1. Oh, my goodness! Who can that be? Has he come delivering a pizza, or a serving of misery? A mystery donning black at the door, everyone please pay attention. But, should we keep still and remain calm, or kick up our feet into action?… The story is weaving some good creative twists, my dear friend Carla, and your imagination is a fun place to be! 🥰🫶✍️🤗🌻

  2. 🤣😂🤣😂 Hahaha it was amusing to get the sense of the sheer panic and fright of the characters, it was super funny when the knob started turning ever so slowly, after hearing the voice at the door; that was the longest terrifying moment of their lives 🤣🤣🤣🤣

“WE HAVE TO WAKE HIM UP!” — “Alberto, who do we have to wake up?” I asked. — “I don’t remember!” <—- that is absolutely hilarious; Alberto 100% knows someone should be woken up but doesn’t know who at the same time 👀😹😹. Jacks barking at the toaster is ironic because considering what happened with Jacks and the refrigerator in Charter 178— Super-Jacks and the Attack of the Household Appliances, we know he tends to have a great relationship with appliances 🤣😅🤭🤭

Consula’s cloth might very well be the a weapon indeed — all Consula has to do is swing the cloth by the door to emit particles and the suspicious visitor would sneeze endlessly 🤭🤭😹😹

When the man’s voice said “I have returned”, it sounds like Alberto when he comes back from the great beyond 🤔😃😄, but I doubt he possesses Alberto’s top-notch singing capabilities or is as “important” 😁😆
