Sometimes, we think that resting simply means getting a few hours of sleep and waking up the next day with our batteries fully recharged. But thatâs not always the case. Some types of fatigue canât be fixed by a good nightâs sleepâas much as we might wish there were a magic button for that! đ We also need to rest our minds by giving them a break from worries; our emotions by allowing ourselves to feel without having to explain everything; and our bodies by respecting their limits. We need social restâchoosing carefully who we spend our time withâas well as silence to escape from an excess of stimuli, moments for reflection, and activities that spark our creativity. Sometimes, resting means saying “no,” turning off your phone, going for a walk, jotting down a few words, listening to music, or simply doing absolutely nothing at all. And you know what? We donât need to be constantly busy, available, or productive. Life isnât a competition to see who can end the day the most exhausted! Learning to take care of ourselves also means recognizing what we need in any given moment. Because resting isnât a waste of time; itâs giving ourselves the chance to keep living with more balance, a sense of lightness, and a desire to smile. And if your greatest achievement today is just sitting quietly on the couch, donât feel guilty. Some days, the couch deserves a medal of honor! đâ€ïž
